HP 8000DN has toner specks and dropouts
HP LaserJet 8000DN with 290,000 page count. For about a year it's been printing specks on the paper. Not a lot, just a few per printed sheet. These are specks you can feel on the paper, so maybe they are more like flakes. You can run your fingers over the page and feel where they are. I'm also getting toner dropouts on the paper. They look like incomplete text characters. Again, not a lot, just a couple per printed sheet. I changed paper to HP Laserjet paper. Then I changed the toner cartridge to an authentic HP toner cartridge. I created a cleaning page and processed it several times. But I still get specks and dropouts. I carefully cleaned the transfer roller and the area around it, but no luck. It's a great printer, and overall it works very well, but now I have a printing project which requires the pages to be free of specks and dropouts, so any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Usually specks which feel raised are a result of the fuser since most times toner put on the paper before fusing will not have that raised property. Best is as the last poster suggested. Put a sheet on the manual feeder on the right side and do a paper path test for tray 1. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, open the top cover to stop the printing. Remove the toner and look at the image below. If the defects are there it is the toner and if not it is the fuser.
